The Glock 17 & 22

For those that are unfamiliar with the Glock 17, it is one of the most popular handguns used for police or military service. It is a full-sized gun but it is lighter than it appears. It is a 9mm pistol with a magazine capacity of 17 rounds. Its casing is made of high-quality polymer. It is a striker-fired double-action pistol with a safe action system.

Aside from sharing the popularity and preference of many Americans, the Glock 17 shares the same dimensions as well as some features as the Glock 22. This is one of the reasons why holsters that fit the Glock 17 are also used for the Glock 22.

The Best Glock 17 & 22 Holster with Light

1. Blackhawk Serpa CQC

Materials – The Blackhawk Serpa CQC holster is classified as a level II retention holster. Made of durable carbon fiber, it can withstand daily use. It comes with a paddle attachment that will fit your belt or pants. This holster is made for everyday concealment, including police work.

Performance – The Blackhawk Serpa CQC holster has a smooth draw. Also, it is also easy to re-holster thus using it is hassle-free. There is a screw where you can adjust the tension of the gun that offers level I retention. The patented Serpa Auto-Lock offers a level II retention. You drag your index finger along the release in the draw cycle. This ensures that disengagement of the weapon is from the user or wearer. Made from carbon fiber, this holster will definitely stand the test of time. This is not easily affected by humidity or moisture. The holster also offers protection for your weapon, preventing it from wear and tear.

What we say – The Blackhawk Serpa CQC light-bearing holster for Glock 17/22 is a great choice for those who are using a light attachment on their Glock, especially a Xiphos light. This is also a great choice if you require a level II retention on your holster. Used by those on active duty, there is an assurance that this holster is effective to use and durable, too. It doesn’t hurt that this costs only around $33-$40, depending on where you buy them.

Pros
  • Affordable
  • Durable
  • Has paddle or loop attachments
Cons
  • Only works with Xiphos light

2. Safariland 6280 STX

Materials – Safariland 6280 STX holster is atop draw, straight cant holster. It features a Self-Locking System (SLS) and has a rotating hood. The holster also has a tensioning device and a molded sight track to ensure the protection of the firearm. This also features a standard hood guard and a Universal Belt Loop. It is made of leather and lined with suede.

Performance – The holster is excellent in securing the gun. The gun won’t come out or pull out once the SLS (Self Locking System) is in place. This ensures that your weapon stays in your holster even when tackled. To activate the dual retention, you should put or turn the hood up. Drawing the gun is easy. All you have to do is to push the SLS button down and turn the hood forward. This will release the gun from the holster. The 6280 STX holster uses a tension screw to increase or decrease the tension of the gun. Consider adjustments for duty use so the gun doesn’t fling out even when the holster is upside down.

What we say – What makes the Safariland 6280 STX holster good is the SLS mechanism that they have in place. This holster also caters to a wide variety of light attachments for your Glock 17. This is a good option if you want to splurge a bit on your holster as this is quite an expensive buy.

Pros
  • Works with a variety of attachments

3. Fobus Tactical RBT17

Materials – The Fobus Tactical RBT17 is a paddle-style holster, made of high quality and durable polymer. Its lightweight, compact, and open-holster design allows handguns any light or laser system. It has a hinge design that allows a straight, upward draw. It’s a low-profile holster and easy to conceal. This holster accommodates accessories mounted on frame rails or trigger guards.

Performance – This holster is made for concealed carry. It’s sturdy gear and fits the Glock 17 well. This fits different kinds of light attachments. The hinged trigger guard panel the retention clip snaps into allows the owner to do a traditional or straight-up draw. The retention isn’t as great as the others since it might be easy for someone to disarm you. This might be possible if you are not very aware or alert of your surroundings. Your gun might also move around when you’re in combat or in training.

What we say – This is an Israeli-made and developed holster. That alone is an indicator that the Fobus Tactical RBT17 is durable. The design allows the wearer the convenience to choose any light or laser system. Along with it being great for concealed carry, the comfort this holster brings plus its fair price point are what make this holster a great choice for your Glock 17. The only downside this holster has is that the retention isn’t as great as the others. Someone might be able to disarm you if you’re not paying attention.
