Best Sig P938 Holsters

If you’re looking for a good P938 holster, the first thing you should consider is what you are going to use it for. Yes obviously, you are going to holster your P938 in it, but ask yourself a few questions: Do you plan to carry your Sig Sauer every day? Do you want an inside of waistband (IWB) or outside of waistband (OWB) Sig P938 holster? What materials do you prefer? Leather? Kydex? Most of this are personal preferences we can’t know about, but we did our best to pick 4 great options, so at least one of them should fit your needs. At the end we are going to tell you which of those 4 convinced us most, but like we said you might find yourself preferring a different holster on our list.
We’ve combined a variety of IWB and OWB Sig 938 holsters in this article for you to weigh your options, so let’s get started.

Comp-Tac I Max Holster

Materials – The Comp-Tac I Max is an all black holster made of 100% Kydex material. The Kydex won’t change in shape and is very resistant to wear and tear. The holster covers the trigger guard and the entire side of the barrel that is against the wearer’s body. It’s perfectly adjustable and can be carried in reverse cant, speed cant and FBI forward cant allowing you to wear it anywhere from 2:00 to 5:00.

Performance – As with all Kydex holster you get a really durable, while at the same time incredibly lightweight material. Kydex is- next to leather- the top choice when it comes to gun holsters or knife sheaths. The smoother surface allows for a fast draw making sure your holster stays at your belt and an easy re-holstering, even one-handed. What could be criticized is the thickness of the Kydex itself. Com-Tac went for a fairly think variant here, making the holster a little more bulky that it needs to be. Additionally your body will come in direct contact with the material and unfortunately, Kydex just isn’t as comfortable as leather or nylon. Our suggestion would be to wear some kind of protection (like an extra shirt) between the holster and your skin, at least if you plan on wearing it for longer periods of time.

What we say – If having a quick and smooth draw is top priority for you, Kydex is ideal and the Comp-Tac I Max is a solid choice. In terms of pricing it’s what we would call “mid-range” and Comp-Tac offers a “30 day return/ exchange policy”, so you can’t really go wrong here.

Talon Tuckable Sig 938 IWB Holster

Materials – The Talon Tuckable is made of Hermann Oak American Steer Hide Leather, and gives you the choice between black or brown. It was designed and made in the USA by law enforcement professionals with the goal of creating a comfortable, low-profile and easy to use IWB holster. It can be purchased for left hand or right hand use, and additionally there is an option for when you got a Laser Crimson Trace attached to your gun. Talon claims it offers “the strongest steel clips on the market” and the double leather top is supposed to allow an easy re-holstering.

Performance – Like we mentioned before, the Talon Tuckable is very small and concealable, so it really does fit comfortable in your waistband. The metal clip is nice and wide, making it really easy to put on/ take off the holster. The leather used here is a good quality material that’s very comfortable, but as with new leather boots, it does require a little breaking in. Keep in mind the the grip of the gun is completely exposed to your skin and there’s no sweat guard, that’s pretty much the only thing we would like to see changed. No deal-breaker though, just wear an additional layer.

What we say – Altogether, we find this P938 holster very handy and comfortable. It could be improved with some sort of sweat guard, but at the same time, that would surely make it a little more bulky, maybe even too bulky for the P938.

DeSantis Mini Scabbard

Materials – The DeSantis Mini Scabbard is another holster available in classic brown or black leather. DeSantis tried to come up with a holster that incooperates nothing but the “barest of essentials”, in other words, they removed everything that isn’t absolutely necessary to hold your gun in place. This makes it perfect as a pocket holster, even if it doesn’t have a flat panel backing. The leather is molded specifically to the shape of your Sig, so the trigger guard and barrel are perfectly protected. There is an adjustable tension screw placed under the gun’s trigger. It comes with a belt ring instead of a clip, so it takes a littler longer to put on, as you have to slide your belt through said ring. Some people prefer this option since it definitely won’t come lose that way. It fits belts up to 1 1/2″.

Performance – We are pretty impressed with how perfectly shaped the Mini Scabbard is to the P938. Without any fancy features and just the essentials, this holster adds minimal shape and weight to your conceal carry, which makes it a great choice for performing regular day activities while wearing it. We usually recommend leather over Kydex, but it should be said that the leather used here is not comparable to the premium stuff used for the Talon shown above. We are also missing some sort of abrasion protection on the inside, which might turn out to be a problem after some more regular use.

What we say – If you’d feel much more comfortable concealing your firearm in your pocket, then you should absolutely consider the Mini Scabbard holster for your Sig P938. Of course, it can also be worn as an OWB holster, however if that’s what you buying it for, you might want go for something else on this list. We would consider the price to be fair and DeSantis certainly has decent reputation in the scene.

Sticky MD-2

Materials – The Sticky MD-2 is made of an all black adherent material and can be used as an IWB or pocket holster. Unlike the other holsters on our list this option doesn’t come with a belt ring or clip, instead it uses its sticky material to adhere to the inside of the wearer’s waistband or their pocket. Definitely an unique idea! This holster is not specifically designed for Sig Sauer P938s, but it does accommodate a variety of pistols in similar sizes. It’s very lightweight, and it can be used by both left-handed and right-handed shooters.

Performance – We’re on the fence with the Sticky MD-2 because it has a lot of pros, but it’s really about preference. The lack of a bulky clip and extra weight from leather or Kydex can be a great advantage for anyone with a short stature or who just doesn’t have a lot of room to fit in a large holster. You can also use the same holster for a number of different pistols. Since there’s only friction keeping your pistol in place, drawing may or may not be a smooth process for you. It will take practice. That being said, the lack of a clip gives this holster incredible versatility and opens up a whole lot of different ways to carry the pistol of your choice.

What we say – If you just can’t seem to find an average holster that you feel comfortable with, then something more unique like the Sticky MD-2 may actually be perfect for you. This is one of the most compact and low-profile holsters we’ve seen, and it’s easy to adjust how you’re wearing it since there is no clip. It’s also pretty cheap and the least expensive option on our list. Keep in mind that you might practice your drawing technique to get used to the unique design. And if it just doesn’t seem to be working out for you, then you’re not out of too much money.

Our Favorite Sig P938 Holster

If there is only one option we could choose as the best holster for Sig P938 pistols it’s the Talon Tuckable IWB Holster. We usually prefer IWB holsters over OWB holsters simply for the concealment factor, and the high quality “Steer Hide” leather provides a leather of comfort that many other leather holsters just don’t. The leather might need a little breaking in, but once that’s done, it should last you for a while, just like quality pair of the leather boots does. Another selling point for us was the brand itself.
