At first glance, you may not think there’s anything too special about the Ruger P95. It is not “bulky” and does not have the best ergonomic feel. And, it can be a little tricky to find the right holster for this handgun. Fortunately, we c whame up with a list of what we think are the best Ruger P95 holsters on the market. We’ve also chosen our favorite one for the end of the review.
There’s one main reason many gun owners select the Ruger P95 as their concealed carry weapon of choice: the recoil. The recoil is very short, and the handgun is designed so the slide takes the shock, instead of the frame of the weapon.
For many shooters, this is an ideal feature even for competition and some tactical use. The holsters we’ve selected for the Ruger P95 are a mix of inside and outside-the-waistband holsters, and our main focus was on the retention levels. It can be difficult to find a holster for this specific handgun that will be injected molded or specifically designed for it, so there’s some give and take when it comes to finding a holster that makes it easy to draw from a comfortable position while also maintaining the size and shape of the frame.
The 4 Best Ruger P95 Holsters
Uncle Mike’s Tactical Kydex Off-Duty Hip Holster
Materials — This thin Kydex outside the waistband holster from Uncle Mike’s provides a mid-level wearing height, but it’s very adjustable. It can be worn strongside or behind the hip, but your Ruger P95 can still be drawn easily, thanks to Uncle Mike’s leaving the edge along the barrel more open than traditional holsters. This makes it easy for the wearer to draw their pistol easily without it snagging on the edge. The holster is molded, so it fits specifically to your Ruger. There are two retention screws under the trigger guard. The wide paddle attachment makes this comfortable to wear on your belt while it supports the weight and size of the handgun.
Performance — The lower edge at the barrel is definitely a little interesting, compared to what we’re used to seeing for outside the waistband holsters – specifically with tactical purposes in mind. It can make some nervous, but we highly suggest giving it a try before you knock it. Surprisingly, Uncle Mike’s design is very functional, and we can see why it would be optimal for someone who likes to carry behind the hip. We wish this holster could have some type of retention release button, but we can see how that wouldn’t really work with the position the holster is intended to be worn at. It may be a little too passive for some, but this holster functions quite well, to our amazement.
What we say — The Off-Duty holster from Uncle Mike’s is the best Ruger P95 holster for those who don’t like wearing their pistol straight at their strong side and are looking for an innovative way to holster their weapon.
- Wide paddle attachment
- Unique design gives smooth draw
- Can be worn behind the hip
- Too little retention for some

Fobus Tactical HPP Standard Conceal Carry Holster
Materials — The Fobus Tactical holster is made of polymer in all black. Also with a paddle attachment, the design fits comfortably on your belt while supporting the weight of your Ruger (since this is also a more open design for an outside the waistband holster). The holster itself features a single retention screw under the trigger guard. The muzzle is open-ended, and there are four ventilation slots across the handgun’s slide. You can comfortably wear your Ruger at mid-level against the body without being concerned with your weapon rocking back and forth or sliding forward. Fobus offers a 100% lifetime guarantee with its tactical holster.
Performance — While this outside the waistband holster from Fobus shares some similarities with the previous option, it offers a more standard design for the same type of functionality. With a forward cant, your Ruger P95 can be drawn in the same motion, but the holster retains your gun with an even-edged coverage. The ventilation slots are interesting, but they seem a little unnecessary if the muzzle is open-ended. We happen to like the paddle attachment on this option a little better since it’s a solid piece. It will provide better weight to balance out the weight from your handgun.
What we say — This is the best choice for shooters who are looking for a forward cant from a polymer design while still getting a convenient draw that doesn’t rely on release buttons.
- Solid back paddle
- Even-edged top of holster
- Highly ventilated system
- Much of the pistol left exposed
Outlaw Holsters NT Hybrid Inside Waistband Holster
Materials — This is our only inside the waistband holster within this review. The Kydex holster has a carbon fiber black exterior, which is molded to the shape of your Ruger P95. The muzzle is left open-ended for an easy draw and re-holstering. The holster is bolted by six screws to the back panel, which is made entirely of leather. The leatherback panel cushions your pistol and protects it from sweat and grime, and also makes it comfortable to wear your Ruger on your hip all day. The single belt clip has an adjustable cant and features two retention screws. Outlaw Holsters offers a one-year replacement warranty for reasonable damage.
Performance — This option from Outlaw Holsters is easily one of the best Ruger P95 concealment holsters on the market. The Kydex side offers a lot of retention by essentially covering the entire surface of the holster. This is unlike a lot of other Kydex inside the waistband holsters, which tend to stay slim and compact. The leatherback panel makes it so comfortable to wear, plus it helps protect the exposed areas of your weapon, unlike the other choices so far in this review. While you can adjust the cant with the belt clip, you can’t adjust the retention of the whole holster. Ultimately, that makes the versatility a little limited.
What we say — This is obviously the best choice for those seeking an inside the waistband holster, but this is also a good choice for those who require a higher level of retention than many tactical OWB holsters provide.
- Molded Kydex provides a lot of retention
- Leather back panel
- Adjustable belt clip
- Cannot adjust retention of Kydex
Galco Gunleather Cop 3 Slot Holster
Materials — Galco’s Cop 3 Slot Holster is made entirely of premium cowhide leather in all black. It’s available for purchase for left-handed or right-handed shooters. The three slots refer to the three available belt loops, so the wearer can adjust their cant to their preferred position. There is reinforced stitching around each belt loop and surrounding your Ruger P95. The leather is highly molded and coated to provide a protective barrier. Also featured is a wide thumb break, which closes with a snap closure.
Performance — For starters, the Galco Cop 3 Slot Holster is the most beautiful of the bunch to look at in this review. The all-leather holster is sleek and discrete for wearing at the hip. The highly molded shape also makes it one of the best options for concealing under a shirt, if preferred. This is also the only option with a thumb break, which will be most useful if you’re utilizing the forward cant belt slots. For some shooters, the thumb break is seen as in the way, but we know this is also providing a level of retention that many, many holsters lack.
What we say — Galco’s holster is the best option for those who want to wear their holster high and tight, but are still looking for versatility with the cant.
- Leather high quality and protective
- Adjustable cant
- Thumb break retention
- Thumb break can be inconvenient for some
Our Favorite Ruger P95 Holster
For the Ruger P95, our favorite holster in this review was the IWB by Outlaw Holsters. While it’s not the smallest pistol around, we feel the Ruger P95 is a very comfortable size for wearing inside your waistband, and this holster provides everything you would need. Mainly, we like the leatherback panel, which acts as both a sweat guard and a comfortable level of protection for your weapon.
It also adds some additional retention against your body. We really liked the shape and style of this Kydex holster. Many inside the waistband Kydex holsters don’t have the back panel, and they are often shaped to the exact dimensions of whatever pistol you’re carrying so they can take up as little room as possible.
While that’s a nice feature, we think outlaw Holsters made the perfect combination of a Kydex barrier that is protective and offers great coverage for the Ruger P95. This option is very affordable, and it makes one of the best concealment holsters and holsters in general on the market for the P95.
