Why Choose the Taurus G3C?
The G3C is a completely new gun in general. I put it this way, this pistol is the successor to the very popular G2C. It has a few improvements over the G2C, but the specifications are nearly the same. This tiny pistol is chambered in 9mm and is ideal for concealed carry. Those on a budget will love this gun.

When it comes to size, the G3C is smaller than the traditional compact Glock 19, but not as small as the P365. You can hold and conceal it comfortably. Another thing that I like about the gun is that it comes with three magazines with a 10- or 12-round capacity. It has a fixed sight, which is a big improvement over the adjustable sights found on the G2C. Thereâs also a short length of rail on the gun for mounting lights or lasers. Plus, the grip has panels, which include the front and backstraps.
For the typical user, the G3C is a reliable, and a good concealed carry weapon (CCW). A reliable CCW is always a good self-defense tool to have on hand. Finding one that fits your budget is always a bonus. The G3C certainly does that. It also provides a better user experience than the G2C. There is no better reason why you wouldn’t give this gun a try.

What Magazine Should You Get?
A 9mm round magazine is compatible with the pistol. The G3C’s specs are essentially the same as the G2C’s. Thus, it’s worth noting that the magazines are interchangeable. Plus, if you like P226 mags, the G3C can accept them as well. If you already own a G3, the G3C will accept the Mec-Gar magazines that hold 15 and 17 rounds. But be mindful of the issues that may arise as they are not made specifically for the gun.
The G3C magazines store a total of 12 rounds, compared to other compact guns. For those who live in places where capacity is limited, Taurus also offers 10-Âround options. But today, weâre more likely to focus on the extended magazines. If you’re looking for one, youâre in the right place. Since the G3C is a good carry gun, having a magazine that can hold more rounds is beneficial. Extended magazines are excellent for target shooting, hunting, and military drills.
Do You Need an Extended Magazine?
Extended magazines are a type of attachment that allows a gun to hold more rounds. Extended magazines typically store an extra two to three rounds over the regular magazine. Whether it’s a small six-round pocket or a powerful 17-round pistol, this rule applies. More rounds imply faster and easier firing.
If you’re having magazine jams, you’ll need an extra. That is why it is always a good idea to have spares on hand. This could be useful in situations when extra rounds are usually needed. Personally, I bring extended magazines on the range, especially for target shooting and competition purposes. It appears to be very useful, at least to me. If you intend to use it for self-defense, you should read the next section.
Legal Issues at the State Level
Extended magazines may be illegal in some places due to severe gun laws. Although other online retailers may say that they only sell to residents of a given state. It’s still necessary for you to check the laws in your area and state before purchasing. This will protect you against a variety of regulatory issues. Issues that may arise as a result of unknowingly violating the law.
The Benefits and Drawbacks of Extended Magazines
Before you buy a Taurus G3C extended magazine, you should know exactly what to expect. Here are some of the advantages and disadvantages to consider:
- Increased capacity: Extended magazines provide more capacity than standard magazines
- Less reloading: Reloading takes time and takes the shooter’s attention away from the target
- Excellent backup mag: These may undoubtedly benefit you in various situations, such as target shooting or competition shooting
- Banned in some states: Extended magazines are not available for everybody
- Hard to find: There are only a few alternatives for extended magazines made particularly for the G3C
- Uncomfortable carry: The added length makes extended magazines hard to carry
How To Pick a Good Taurus G3C Extended Magazine
Extended magazines necessitate extra caution. A malfunction or misfeed is more likely to happen due to more bullets a magazine holds. Make sure to look at the quality of the materials, construction, and functionality. When selecting an extended magazine for your Taurus G3C, here are the things to consider.
Magazine Size
Think about how many rounds you want to carry. It is one of the most important factors to consider when buying extended magazines. The number of rounds is proportional to the size and length of the magazine. The more bullets you have in your gun, the more size and length it takes up.
The Taurus extended magazine has a larger capacity than the standard magazine. A Taurus G3C extended magazine holds enough rounds for any situation. This magazine offered two versions: carry-ready and range-ready. But for the magazine size or capacity, it all boils down to your intentions and purpose. Determine how many rounds you need or if you need an extended magazine. Keep in mind that while having a huge capacity for one usage may be ideal, it may not be the case for some scenarios.
Materials
This one is another critical thing to keep in mind. High-quality materials for magazines are steel and polymer. These materials are some of the best since they can endure a wide range of impacts and abuse. One of its best characteristics is that they don’t break when it free falls onto a hard surface. It would also be easy to see the difference between a nice textured magazine and one that isn’t until you touch it.
Price
If you’re on a tight budget, the price tag can be worth noticing. Even if you’re on a limited budget, you shouldn’t skimp on quality for the sake of saving money. Picking the quality option within your budgetary constraints should suffice. No matter what you buy, the value will always beat everything else, even if it means spending a bit more than you wish.

The Best Taurus G3C Extended Magazines
Promag 32 Rd 9mm Taurus PT-111 G2 Extended Magazine
This extended magazine fits Taurus PT-111 G2 firearms and can hold up to 32 rounds of 9mm. This magazine is well made. As far as we’re concerned, as long as it’s a 9mm caliber, you’re good to go. The magazine will also fit the G2C and G3C pistols. That’s great â they’ve kept their word about the magazines being interchangeable.
This particular model has a blued and sharp finish. It makes feeding much more consistent. Traditional welding of heat-treated high-carbon steel is used to create ProMag. Whereas, heat-treated chrome silicon wire is used to make the magazine spring. I like that the magazine is durable and made of carbon steel. You won’t have to worry about how long this magazine will last.
The last thing you want to deal with is any potential reliability concerns that may occur firing with these mags. It has something to do with loose fittings. I hope to get an extended magazine made specifically for the Taurus G3C to avoid that. But there arenât many options.
Overall, this is an excellent extended magazine for either a novice or seasoned shooter. It delivers on its promise of giving you consistent shooting every time you use your handgun. Plus, it comes with a lifetime guarantee against manufacturer’s defects. That’s included with every ProMag magazine. Note that the Taurus ProMag is 100% American-made.
- High-quality construction
- Consistent feeding
- Made in the United States
- Backed with a lifetime warranty
- Fitment issues
- Not specifically made for the G3C version
Taurus G2C/G3C 9mm 17-round Magazine
This is a Taurus G3C 9mm magazine with a capacity of 17 rounds. Models G2C and G3C are compatible with this mag. The magazine has a bigger capacity than any other Taurus factory G3C magazine on the market. These mags are made of steel with a black finish.
This magazine features a full set of witness holes, making it simple to see how much ammo you have left. The high-visibility follower helps to spot an empty magazine and is quite effective. In reality, the magazine is great and functions as it should. I donât have any problem using it as it feeds well.
Another thing that I like about this magazine is that it comes with sleeves already. A curved magazine sleeve adds grip to your small handgun, making it seem like a full-sized weapon. It’s also designed to match the material of your pistol’s grip. Moreover, Taurus sells this magazine as well as a 15-round G3 magazine. It has a spacer sleeve for the Taurus G2C and G3C. You may get spacer sleeves for these magazines from a variety of retail locations.
Overall, this magazine is ideal if you need a 17-round extended magazine for your G3C. It fits nicely to your pistol with no feeding issues. Plus, you donât need to buy sleeves anymore to make your gun look good. With only $30, youâll get a reliable magazine made specifically for your Taurus G3C. The only concern is that this isnât allowed in many states, such as California. As a result, you should double-check your state’s legislation related to magazine use.
- Specifically made for the G3C version
- Fits perfectly
- Comes with sleeves already
- Increased capacity
- Banned in many states

Taurus G2C/G3C 9mm 15-round Magazine
This is a Taurus G3C 9mm magazine that holds 15 rounds. Taurus G3C and G2C pistols are also compatible with this magazine. The 15-round magazine is nearly identical to the 17-round version. It’s made of steel with a black finish as well. The only difference is the capacity.
Taurus’ 15-round magazine will increase the capacity of your G3C. This extended magazine for the Taurus G3C adds three rounds to the standard magazine. Thus, it is an invaluable asset to your Taurus G3C. The 15-round has visibility follower and witness holes as well. It’s useful for instant ammo checks, similar to the 17-rounder.
However, there are complaints against the 15-round magazine. Many users claim that the rounds inside the magazine rattle, which isn’t proper. The magazines should be intact and fit perfectly. I’m glad that this isn’t a problem with the 17-round magazine. You can, however, repair it on your own. Still, it’s something to think about.
Overall, this magazine is a good option if youâre looking for a Taurus G3C extended magazine. Itâs inexpensive and works well. Plus, it is durable and an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) product from Taurus. This one is still a good alternative for me.
- Compatible with the G2C and G3C firearms
- Increased capacity
- Durable construction
- Magazineâs rattling sound
Mec-Gar P226 18-round Magazine
The Mec-Gar P226 18-round magazine is a 9mm magazine made for SIG Sauer P226. But these magazines have proven to fit and work on the G2 and G3 pistols. I added this to the list so that you will have an alternative extended magazine. I recommend using these magazines on the range and not for self-defense purposes to avoid any issues.
Mec-Gar is a reputable company that produces quality magazines. It is a go-to site when it comes to magazines. Its products are reliable and of high quality. The magazine has an antifriction coating and a high-impact polymer follower. These mags have 18+3 capacity and still flush fits with the pistol. The magazine also has corrosion-resistant properties.
Honestly, Mec-Gar noted on its site that these magazines won’t fit Taurus pistols. But they work. Many have tried it and feeding seems so smooth. I’ll attach below a video of a shooting demonstration. Furthermore, the price of Mec-Gar magazines is slightly greater than that of Taurus OEMs. Overall, the Mec-Gar P226 magazine will suffice if you’re looking for an alternative. It’s best to use it on a range. However, if you want a solid magazine for your Taurus G3C, go with the OEMs. They fit your pistol properly and effortlessly.
- Durable construction
- Smooth feeding
- Good alternative
- Increased capacity
- Not specifically made for Taurus G3C
- A little bit pricey
The Final Word
The G3C is a highly accurate and reliable weapon. I think having a handgun with this level of performance and function is astounding. Not to mention the fact that it includes three regular mags. If you need extra rounds and you’re the type of shooter who’s worried about running out of ammo, you can’t go wrong with choosing any extended magazine on our list.
For a reliable choice, the Taurus G3C 17-rounder is an ideal option. It’s inexpensive, long-lasting, and feeds smoothly. You can also use it with the new G3C handgun even if youâre currently using a Mec-Gar P226 Mag.
What’s to stop you? If it’s just for a fun time in the range. You can utilize it to shoot more rounds quickly.
