Best Glock 36 Holsters For The Money

We may earn a commission when you purchase through the links on our site. Find out more here.

The Glock 36 is an interesting piece to own. It features the SLIMLINE design, trademarked by Glock, so not only is it comfortable to hold, but even easier to conceal. It’s advertised exclusively for home and self-defense, so every attribute this weapon has is to enhance your accuracy and speed.

Don’t ruin all that by getting the wrong ill-fitting, slow to draw from, and sweat-inducing run-of-the-mill holster.

We included an even mix of inside the waistband and outside the waistband holsters for this review. Although it’s for self-defense and has that SLIMLINE design, the Glock 36 still has a barrel that’s almost four inches long. Some shooters will be able to manage that in an IWB holster, but we think that can get uncomfortable for many. There’s a variety of wonderful leather and Kydex holsters on the market that can make carrying your Glock 36 a breeze, no matter if you’re active outdoors or sitting most of the day.

Things To Consider When Buying G36 Holster

Because of its advantages, the Glock 36 has grown in popularity among a wide range of gun owners. Because of its small size, it is an ideal everyday weapon that can be carried comfortably. It will also keep you safe and allow you to better protect your weapon with the holster. When looking for a holster for your Glock 36, keep the following factors in mind:

Weapon Security

Security is an important factor to consider when selecting a holster because it measures the level of protection that a holster can provide. Choose a holster with nice retention screws that is fully adjustable. Another is the trigger guard mechanism on your holster should ideally cover the entire trigger mechanism to avoid accidental discharge.

Concealment

Many people prefer a Glock 36 because it is ideal for concealed carry. Because of the small size of this weapon, almost any holster you buy will conceal the fact that you are carrying it quite well. Your Glock 36 is now designed to either sit inside your waistband, where printing is less of an issue or to break up the overview of your gun.

Ease of Access

This is very important in emergency situations or when you need to draw your gun right away. As a result, the holster is very effective because it allows you to easily access your gun.

Durability

Examine the materials used to make the holster and whether they are appropriate for your needs. Polymer hard case holsters typically last the longest and have the added benefit of protecting your weapon. Leather holsters, on the other hand, can be a good option for those looking for a more minimalist solution. They are generally smaller than polymer holsters and, if properly cared for, will last for a long time.

Now that we’ve seen the factors to consider when choosing and purchasing G36 Holster, let’s move on to our top picks.

Best Glock 36 Holsters

Outlaw Holsters NT Hybrid

Materials – Our first option and the cheapest within this review is a hybrid holster. The Kydex portion is molded to the shape of your Glock 36, and it’s in a carbon fiber black pattern. It’s bolted in six places, but these are not with retention screws. The barrel is open-ended, so your Glock will easily glide out as you draw. There is a black belt clip, which does have two retention screws. Adjust the cant to your liking. The leatherback panel acts as a sweat guard, and it completely protects your weapon against your body. This is comfortable to wear all day.

Performance – What leaves us a little wishy-washy on this first holster from Outlaw is that there aren’t any retention screws on the Kydex portion. Since the Glock 36 isn’t a full-sized weapon, and this has an open muzzle, we’d prefer some more strategic placing with the screws. Since the NT Hybrid model is designed to be purchased for a variety of popular pistols and handguns, they’re technically all made the same, just in different sizes. Perhaps this holster isn’t designed exactly for what the Glock 36 needs. At the same time, you get retention from the adjustable belt clip and the natural friction. It will come down to preference for the buyers.

What we say – This is the best Glock 36 holster for those who aren’t comfortable with all Kydex against their body. Hybrids are popular holsters, so we can see why many would choose this for their Glock.

Pros
  • Lowest cost
  • Comfortable leather back panel
  • Adjustable belt clip
Cons
  • No retention screws in the kydex

Blackhawk! Leather 3-Slot Pancake Holster

Materials – Blackhawk makes a great outside of the waistband pancake holster. It’s available in either black or brown leather, and it can be made for either left-handed or right-handed draw. There are three belt loops, so the wearer can choose between a straight up and down cant or a forward FBI cant. You can even wear this holster behind the hip. Double stitching lines the rail of your Glock as well as at the trigger guard. A thick thumb break has two snap closures, so you can also choose the level of retention over your Glock 36.

Performance – We love every time we get the opportunity to include one of these three slot pancake holsters in gun reviews. The Glock 36 is just the right size where it’s still concealable inside the waistband, but it does just as well outside the waistband. If you have a thick jacket or sweater, you can easily throw it over the top of the weapon to keep it concealed. Especially if you keep the cant straight up and down, you’ll have no problem keeping your Glock hidden. We always appreciate snap closures on thumb breaks, since they’re quieter than Velcro and nylon thumb breaks. However, the thumb break increases the time needed for drawing your weapon. For some, a thumb break is absolutely necessary. For others, not so much.

What we say – This is the best Glock 36 holster for those who want their two styles of cant but also prefer all-leather over Kydex. You’ll get a more secure fit without having to make adjustments with a slide belt clip.

Pros
  • Two choices of cant
  • Snap closure thumb break
  • Easy to conceal under a shirt or jacket
Cons
  • Thumb break increases drawing time

Gould & Goodrich Gold Line Two Slot Pancake Holster

Materials – Gould & Goodrich’s leather holsters are made from top-grain genuine leather that has been vegetable tanned in all black. This is also outside of the waistband pancake holster, but it only has two belt loop slots. A straight up and down cant is the only carry style possible for this holster. The leather is highly molded, and there’s double stitching around both belt loops. There is a wide thumb break at the top of the holster with a snap closure. You can wear this pancake holster high and tight, and it’s easy to conceal under a thick shirt or jacket.

Performance – Although this style of holster is quite similar to the Blackhawk leather holster, it’s worth noting that Gould & Goodrich’s holster is made with higher-quality leather. The molding is also a little firmer too. So, all around, you’re getting a little more retention in this holster, even though it’s also the pancake style. Also, it’s missing the option for a forward cant. For us, we consider this a negative feature, but there are obviously no complaints if the FBI cant isn’t your thing. Ultimately, the extra money is going towards a higher quality leather and a tighter fit. Gould & Goodrich delivers beautiful products that won’t fade or wear out if they’re properly taken care of.

What we say – This is the best Glock 36 holster for those who think appearances are important. This is an investment that should last you a little while.

Pros
  • Well-molded and sturdy
  • Wide thumb break
  • Quality vegetable tanned leather
Cons
  • Only one style of cant

DeSantis The Insider Holster

Materials – The DeSantis Insider Holster is made of soft unmolded leather and has a great design that minimizes bulk. So you can enjoy using it because it is very comfortable to use and easy to carry. One of the most notable features of this holster is the heavy-duty steel spring clip, which will allow you to keep more of your gun below your belt line. Another advantage is that it is made in the United States and fits the majority of Glock, Taurus, Walther, and Sig models.

Performance – When it comes to DeSantis’ performance, I can say that it is very light and easy to carry. I tried it and found it to be more versatile than any other holster out there. This holster is also good for concealment and will keep my gun safe no matter what. Thanks to its soft edges on the leather, it won’t irritate my skin and it provides a pretty solid grip when I wear IWB. That is why it is so impressive.

What we say – This DeSantis Insider Holster is ideal for those looking for a gun holster that sits low enough in the waistband and is good for a quick draw. So if you want something like this in a holster, this is definitely for you. Another It is extremely well-made and has a smooth design, so you can’t go wrong if you try it.

Pros
  • Available in multiple colors or patterns
  • Audible click when holstered
  • Retention screw
Cons
  • Most expensive option

Our Favorite Glock 36 Holster

For the Glock 36, our favorite holster is the DeSantis Insider Holster. It has the, for me, all-important satisfying click when the gun is securely in place. Easy to use retention screw and beautiful soft leather.

If you like the straight up and down cant, and you’d prefer to spend your money on higher quality materials, then you should absolutely choose the G & G holster.

If you prefer to spend less money and just need an occasional use holster, then go for our best budget buy – the Outlaw Holster NT Hybrid.
